Five months over and slowly ticking.
The big six but only months, neither
Years nor decades. Small to some,
Trivial even to others but for me,
Such significance as only something
Thus minute could hold. Waiting!
Time together short as they may be,
To some never attained ever. Yet
Short it still is. Opportunity to
Familiarise and understand. Finally,
Recognise what matters and what not.
Took quite a while, only that you have
Succeeded in making me think out of the
Box and see the truth behind all that
Binds. Societal norms and what not!
Others may never comprehend our
Story. Or how we could have ended up
Together. Incomprehensible perhaps. More
Likely unwillingness to understand and
See that which threatens all they have
Known and hold dear. Crusaders we be not.
None the malice or spite. Just the simple
Desire to be left to enjoy our own. Reject
Us if you would or embrace us as two
Humans very much in love. The choice to
Deny or accept our reality is yours.
But ours it remains to walk together!
Everyday that dawns, I grow a little
Wiser. Nothing that the educational system
Has taught me. Only that which the School
Of Life all of us are enrolled in by
Default. The only admission criterion
Being that we should draw breath. Love,
Great educator that it be could otherwise
Blind those who would see and enlighten
Those who would rather not. Constantly
Learning and understanding. Redefining,
Building and remodelling our relationship!
The much touted Valentine’s Day draws
Close. A single dawn to dusk devoted to so
Much commercialisation. Why choose only to
Show the one you love how much they mean
To you through that one day or those few
Anniversaries thus held dear. Ain’t every
Single day a testimonial to one’s love to
That very important partner of our lives?
Every day a celebration of love, affection
And commitment. More than flowers, my
Offering be but my humble heart. Totally
Belonging to just the very one you and
None else amongst human beings alike. I
Made a promise and here it holds true!
Would that you could understand the full
Extent of my promise. Yet, it matters
Not. For what its entirety entails lies
Fully upon me to fulfil and your task
Be only to enjoy and accept that which is
Yours. Let me reiterate my stand. Now and
Forevermore. I loved you, still do, and
Always will. Thanks for sharing your
Life with me so willingly. But for you,
I would be lost. Adrift upon such mindless
Humanity as a buoy. Unseen and unfelt!
