Winds of Time

Winds of time,
Having lost the momentum so sought,
Stutter and stumble;
Flailing, falling, dying.

Chance the meeting,
That wasn’t,
‘Twas written in the stars,
In the lore passed down through the decades.

Once the person,
Committed then to heart,
Never to be forgotten,
But carried always, a longing hidden.

Puzzle piece missing,
A nagging feeling of unease,
Compelling, confounding,
The need to complete that which can never be.

Winds of time,
Turning round,
Leave the past where it lies,
That the dying embers,
Dull and dim,
Be not rekindled unto light,
To flare once again,
As a glowing beacon in the night.
